* keyboard practice: We Wish You A Merry Christmas. She is getting frustrated with trying to learn it from memory, so I found a version in a songbook and wrote in the note names. Unfortunately it is in a different key to the version the keyboard is using, so we talked about transposition. Can’t find the keyboard’s songbook!
* reading: I Wish That I Had Duck Feet – read 20 pages with only 8 fumbles, and only two of them needed me to give her the word
* craft: making a person from pipecleaners
* reading: another 6 pages of IWTIHDF, only 1 mistake
* watched BTN: AWB, Australia Day, swimming. In the segment on Australia Day they had a graphic showing the route taken by the First Fleet. I asked her, “What’s wrong with that map?”, and she was able to tell me that the ships did not go through Bass Strait because at that point they didn’t realise that Tasmania was not attached to mainland Australia. Rawr!
* watched Our History, on the impact of the Snowy Scheme on the townof Adaminaby, which was interesting because we used to have a holiday house at Adaminaby when we were kids so I’ve been to the Lake and seen where Old Adaminaby used to be, etc
* Meredith called me and asked questions about making garb etc, which prompted us to go through the cupboard and find all our spare stuff. B tried on various combinations and so forth.
* watching Buried Alive: Sydney 1788-1792 – a documentary based on documentary evidence from the time eg. journals, diaries and letters, illustrated with contemporary sketches and paintings. B watched about half of it before declaring that it was too boring and turning it off.
* 12:30 swimming with Nannie (and possibly Caitlin), then out to the farm
