This week

Tues: B – Duplo and plotting sleepovers; fed chickens, tidied Duplo; computer; playing with K; TV; read the first page of the Newsademic cover story and did the first two questions in the comprehension sheet; rescued a bird which had hit the glass door and stunned itself (we put it in the shed in a box and shut the door, it took about four hours but eventually it was able to fly away); playing keyboard (was confused by bass clef and we helped her identify the notes so she was able to play the left hand part of “Ode to Joy” which she is learning) and guitar.
K – TV, “Hero Katy” in the back yard (complete w. cape); went through the puzzles box with me; Duplo with B; dress-ups.

Wed: B worked out how much allowance she is owed – used calendar to count up weeks, then tried various methods of coming up with the answer – ended up being $3 out. I demo’d multiplication technique but she wasn’t interested. Caitlin over from about 11-3; horseriding 4-5; keyboard; online games; watched a short video on the Pacific Gyre with me; Futurama with E. I asked Joel next door about his nashi pears and he offered the lot to us 🙂

Thurs: did our own thing this morning. Went to the museum to meet up with HENCAST for the planning meeting, B took K off with L, J and C, although she was unhappy that she had to spend more time looking after K than playing with her friends. I tried to arrange a playdate at C’s afterwards but the logistics were too much to handle so F and I decided to postpone it for another day. B mentioned wanting to do choir with L and C but said she was intimidated by not being a good reader. K was asleep in the car when we got home so B took my laptop out there and played LEGO.com for an hour until K woke up. Pretty much played on the computer or outside or watched TV for the rest of the evening. Eventually had hysterics about not getting to spend enough time with us because we are preoccupied with the babies.

Fri: much better day. ABA meeting in the morning was relaxed (although I could have done without B deciding to monopolise the only older kid there and try and shut K out of the play for 2 hrs). Then we walked to the shop for bread and milk and played on the parks. I discovered a great new site, Best Online Documentaries, and B and I watched the first episode of “Guns, Germs and Steel” together while K watched her show. ETA: Scouts are back this week; after she got home from that B and E looked a little bit at his Python program, then watched Futurama.
