Today Nannie arrived to pick us up at 9:30 and we were all ready and in the front garden waiting for her. I don’t think it can be overstated how unusual it is to be early on a Monday morning… I’d even managed to bestir B to feed the chooks and hang out half the load of washing on the line under the deck. Because of K’s tummy-ache last night and the possibility that it might be a contagious bug, we decided to skip playgroup, so after Nannie dropped B at pottery we went to North Lyneham with the intention of doing the fruit and veg shopping at the farm store there. Alas they don’t open til 2pm, so we went to Belconnen Markets instead. It was pretty sepulchral with only one F&V shop and the pet store open, but we got the shopping done, and picked up pellets and shell grit as well, since we were there! We had planned to have a coffee but since the cafe was shut and H was tired and grumpy, Mum dropped us home instead.
B was disappointed that she wasn’t able to go to sports with C, but I couldn’t get hold of C’s Dad to organise and I’m fed up with having to sort this stuff out at the last minute, so she came home with Nannie as arranged instead (and was not very happy with it, but hopefully she’ll organise it ahead next term!). We turfed K off the computer, where she’d been watching her movie, and B played Horse Isle for a while. I did some picking up and vacuuming in the living room, and rearranged the furniture again. H went upstairs for a nap (he’d had a fifteen minute snooze in the car on the way back from pottery) but I was unable to convince B to get off the computer and do any of her workbooks. As soon as she did sit down with me, he woke up (of course). She did some of the Bushrangers unit in her Excel Extended workbook, and some of the timestables workbook, then went outside with K and the dog (in the rain) and played. They may have eaten at some point as well 🙂 Apparently B has gone off for a ride in the rain now.
Oh, and speaking of rain – it’s been pissing down, but there’s no sign of overflow from the gutters! *does a little dance* Now, as to why we didn’t just do that four years ago, who can say? (apart from the fact that we’re slack barstids, of course).
