How did it get to be the second month of 2007 ALREADY? Sheesh…

Today, Miss Kate wanted to paint even before she’d finished having breakfast. Seems like she took me seriously last night when I said that no, we weren’t going to start painting tonight, but we could do it first thing tomorrow (I think I might have to start assuming that she is listening and processing everything I say and to not talk over her head like she won’t understand or remember any more!). So I cleared the table, found the old sheet to go over it, and set her up with her new paint colours, palette and glitter while I put the drying up away. She painted a couple of pages using a brush, then decided that fingerpainting was It and started squelching and smooshing paint everywhere. Yay for tablecloths you can use for wiping her hands with *g* Some paint did get through onto the table, but wiped off without difficulties.

I cleared up that mess just in time for Playschool, then we read books and she pootled about upstairs while I had a shower and got ready to go out to do the supermarket shopping. We discovered that half the carpark at Kippax was blocked off because it was being resurfaced, and there were no parking spots to be found, so I gave up on Aldi and we went to do the whole shop at Coles instead. Managed to get most of it done, but Kate was getting increasingly sleepy and grumpy through the checkout, moving onto a full on screaming tantrum when I actually had the gall to insist that I needed to bring the groceries into the house and go to the toilet before I could put her down for a nap. She’s still asleep now, although presumably not for much longer. In the meantime, I cleaned the living room, then my mum came over to pick up some boxes of paper that she had left in the garage while she and Dad were away. We had a nice chat about various things, including actually being able to talk about Beth’s education without coming to blows (or even getting remotely upset with each other). We have come a long way…
